They say high school life is the best. If you're in college or already graduated, you could agree with me. But if you're just about to enter high school, here are my experiences and realizations after years of completing senior high school.
1 Be organized
Practice time management. If you’re loaded with tasks, time management helps. You’ll get things done in a shorter time than you expect. You must also help yourself to stick to it and avoid procrastination.
Being organized also applies to your things. You can lessen your stress if you keep your stuff organized. Where’s my math paper? Oh, it’s in my pink envelope. Where did I put the pen Mingyu gave me? Right, it’s in my pencil case. See, it’s easier that way than to dig into your messy bag. You could also avoid losing things if you do this.
2. Join extra-curricular activities
There will be tons of activities in high school. Participate in them as much as possible. You could improve your social skills and widen your knowledge. You may develop other skills or talents as well. It will also be beneficial in the future for you can include some of it in your curriculum vitae.
3. Make friends
Friends will make your stay in high school fun and memorable. But make sure to not associate with everyone. Be wise in making friends and only choose who you see will bring a good influence on you. Because mostly, high school friends last longer than you think.
4. Make memories
High school could be one of the highlights in your life if you create memories. It has been four years since I graduated junior high school, and I still reminisce about the moments I had with my friends.
Tip: Don’t be too stingy with yourself. Yes, you can save money, but make sure to bond with your friends if you can. Being with them could also be a way to de-stress yourself, one thing you should have as a reward.
Additionally, this is in general but make a playlist. It's good to reminisce when you listen to songs you used to play over and over. You'll start to feel what you felt that time, but this time with nostalgia.
5. Learn
Making memories is a must, and so is learning. Do not neglect your studies, as they will appear on your record, which could affect some opportunities ahead.
If you’re one of the students who quickly gets bored or finds studying a bit hard, you can try learning in a fun way! Study with your friends. It’s like hitting two birds with one stone—you get to bond with them and learn!
These are some things I'm thankful I did and wish I'd done. If you're nervous about entering high school and starting a new beginning, it's normal. It took me months to adjust, but I enjoyed the rest of the years.
Now that I'm growing up and have more heavy responsibilities, it's time to get out of my comfort zone and experience the game in the real world. Hence, enjoy every minute of your youth because sometimes I even want to create a time machine and return to those days.
